Arms of Schiedlberg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 27, 1971.

The hat in the upper part of the arms symbolises Cölestin Joseph Ganglbauer, born in the municipality in 1817, who became Prince-Bishop op Wien in 1881 and in 1884 a cardinal. The horse and wavy bend are canting for the Ipfbäche (Ipf-streams) that run through the municipality. Ipf comes from the Celtic word epos, or horse. Another explanation is that the name Schiedlberg is derived from Schellberg, which means stallion-mountain.
