BARSTYČIAI
County : Klaipėda
Municipality : Skuodas
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 28, 2011.
The two-headed fish represents the two local lakes (Laumių and Barstyčių) which, long ago, formed a single lake. There are a lot of placenames around with a lot of legends about fantastic creatures like devils, witches and fairies so a double-headed fish fits well in the context of witchcraft.
The tincture Gules stands for blood spilled in battles, including the post-WWII anti-Soviet partizan actions. Argent stands for water.
