KRØDSHERAD

Province : Viken (until 2020 Buskerud)

Arms of Krødsherad

Official blazon

I blått et gull Andreas-kors.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 11, 1981.

The arms are supposedly canting. The name Krødsherad was thought to be derived from 'crossing area', the area where two valleys crossed. Thus the cross was taken as a symbol in the arms. New insights, however, derive the name from Krøderen, or a lake with a sharp curve (hooked-lake).
