Province : Troms of Finnmark (until 2020 Troms
Additions : 1964 Andørja

Arms (crest) of Ibestad

Official blazon

I blått et sølv hjulkors med utbøyde armer.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 19, 1986.

The arms symbolise that one of the oldest Norwegian stone churches was built in Ibestad. It dates from around 1200. As a symbol for the church a cross on a medieval tombstone found in 1960 in the church was chosen.
