Shield: Per bend Or and Vert, in chief two pistols in saltire, muzzles upward of the last and in base an axe, head upward and a rifle, muzzle upward, saltirewise and pendent therefrom a powder horn all Or;
a chief Sable.
Crest: That for regiments and separate battalions of the West Virginia Army National Guard: From a wreath Or and Vert, a slip of mountain rhodedendron in full bloom and leaved Proper.
Motto: Totus securus (All secure)
Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Gold color metal and enamel shield shaped device blazoned as follows: Per bend Or and Vert, in chief two pistols in saltire, muzzles upward of the last and in basean axe, head upward and a rifle, muzzle upward, saltirewise and pendent therefrom a powder horn all Or; a chief Sable. Attached below the shield a Balck scroll inscribed "TOTUS SECURUS" in Gold. The device is 1 3/16 inch (3.02 cm) in width overall.
Origin/meaning
Yellow and Green are the the colours traditionally associated with Military Police Units. The Pistols adopted from the Military Police Branch insignia indicates the Battalion's lawenforcement role.
The axe denotes battle, the rifle and powder horn suggests combat readiness. The black chief symbolises the Coal found in the Mountains of West Virginia. The Coat of Arms was approved on 23 April 2009.
