Official blazon

Shield: Azure, issuant from base a tower Argent (Silver Gray), masoned Sable charged with a double-ward key erect, ward to base of the first, all between two lightning bolts in chevron reverse Argent; on a chief of the like, a hurt bearing a deployed parachute of the last.
Crest: From a wreath Argent and Azure, a dagger fesswise Argent (Silver Gray) between wings conjoined in base of the like surmounted by a hurt voided of the field bearing a spur Proper, charged on each wing with a palm frond Vert.
Motto: From skies of blue.

Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A silver color metala nd enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Azure, issuant from base a tower Argent (Silver Gray), masoned Sable charged with a double-ward key erect, ward to base of the first, all between two lightning bolts in chevron reverse Argent; on a chief of the like, a hurt bearing a deployed parachute of the last. Attached below the shield a Black scroll inscribed "FROM SKIES OF BLUE" in Silver.

Origin/meaning

The Tower symbolises the Engineer compnent, the Key the security provided by the Military Intelligence and Military Police components. The Lightnings the Signal Component. The Parachute on the Hurt alludes to the Airborne Role and the 82nd Airborne Division. The Wings in the Crest symbolises swiftness. The Bayonet (Dagger) stands for World War I service as Infantry. The Blue disc with the spur symbolises World War II service as a Mechanized Cavalry Reconnaissance Unit. The Palm Fronds allude to service in the Armed Forces Expedition and Southwest Asia operations.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 27 July 2006.
