Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
HIMBERG
State : Niederösterreich
District : Wien-Umgebung
Additions : 1954 Gutenhof; 1971 Velm; 1972 Pellendorf
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 1st, 1574 by Emperor Maximilian II of Austria.
The arms are canting, showing a female deer ('Hindin') on a mountain ('Berg'). The arms were based on the arms of the Lords of Hindberg, who already in the 13th century used a red deer on a golden field. The division of the shield in gold and black was made to distinguish the arms of the town from the family arms.
The arms as shown by Ströhl, 1904 |
The arms as shown in the Abadie albums, 1930s |
