Escudo de ouro, um negrilho de verde, arrancado do mesmo, entre duas canelas de azul, realçadas a prata; em chefe, uma lança de negro com o ferro vermelho, posta em faixa; campanha ondada de azul e prata de cinco tiras. Coroa mural de prata de quatro torres. Listel branco, com a legenda a negro: “ NEGRELOS – S. TOMÉ “.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 14, 2001.
The two spindles symbolise the long tradition of textile industries in the village. The poplar tree is a common tree surrounding the fields of the municipality. The arrow with the bloody tip symbolises St. Thomas, the local patron saint. The base symbolises the Vizela river. The golden shield symbolises the rich corn fields and the wealth of the people.
