Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
RADSTADT
State : Salzburg
District : Sankt Johann im Pongau
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 17, 1927.
The arms appeared already on the oldest seals, that date just after the city rights were granted by Archbishop Rudolf of Salzburg in 1289. The colours are the colours of Salzburg. The arms have not changed since, although the size and shape of the gate has changed considerably during the centuries. The meaning of the wheel in the chief is not known.
