NOVOSIBIRSK OBLAST (Новосибирская область)
Russian | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 29, 2003.
The arms are based on those of Novosibirsk city. The small bar refers to the Trans-Siberian Railway, which has been of great importance for the local development. The silver and blue refer to the heavy winters and the Ob river respectively.
The sabres are taken from the historical arms of Siberia. The golden dome refers to the Novosibirsk Opera House and symbolises culture in the region.
