Origin/meaning

Sant Bartomeu del Grau seceded from Gurb council in 16th century; in the middle of the 17th century, the village passed to the family Alemany-Descatllar, represented by their arms: three wings Gules on Argent for the Alemanys (canting arms: Alemany reminds in Catalan "ala", wing) and a castle Gules on Or for the Descatllars. These arms have been officially granted on 27th May 1991.
