Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 19, 1927.

Before 1927 the municipality had no seals or arms. The arms were designed in the early 1920s and are based on the medieval seal of Rudolf von Breitenstein from 1385. As no colours were known, black and silver were chosen to make it easier to have the arms shown on the seal.
