Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 30, 1960.
The arms show in the upper half the local baptizing vessel(‘Taufstein’) and in the lower half a fence on a hill. The fence symbolizes the Germanic fortress, one of the largest in Northern Germany, that was erected in the area around the 3rd or 4th century AD. The first chapel or small church was erected in Dedenhausen in the late 13th century (it was first mentioned in 1301). The baptizing vessel dates from the early 14th century and during the centuries most citizens have been baptized in this vessel.
