Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 12, 1968.

The village was founded in the 18th century and was part of the county of Hanau-Lichtenberg, which, at the time, was ruled by the Dukes of Hessen. The arms thus show the lion of Hessen, combined with a canting point with the letter L (Winkel means corner).
