6TH FORCE SUPPORT SQUADRON (FORMERLY 6TH MISSION SUPPORT SQUADRON), US AIR FORCE

History: Constituted Air Base Squadron, 5 Air Base Group on 22 August 1940. Activated on 15 September 1940. Redesignated: 6 Air Base Squadron on 17 January 1941; 6 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron on 13 June 1942. Disbanded on 1 April 1944. Reconstituted, and redesignated 6 Mission Support Squadron, on 22 December 1993. Activated on 4 January 1994. Redesignated 6 Force Support Squadron on 1 November 2008.
