Origin/meaning
The three Stars in chief symbolises that the Ship served as Flagship of the US 3rd Fleet. The divisions of the Field symbolises the US Navy and the 3rd Fleet. The Coronet in the Crest symbolises the nameskae the city of Coronado, California. The blue lining symbolises the Pacific Ocean where the Ship served. The mound on which the Coronet rests, alludes to the grassy mound on the Flag of the State of California. USS Coronado was commissioned 23 May 1970 and decommissioned 30 September 2006.
