CUARNENS

Canton : Vaud

Armoiries de Cuarnens

Official blazon

D'azur à la croix d'argent, à la licorne saillante d'or brochante.

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1928.

They based on the arms of the Mestral de Cuarnens, former lords of the locality. The commune replaced the wheels which accompanied the cross by a unicorn, coming from an old village sign. This can also be seen as a canting element, the village name was pronounced as Cornens, which resemble licorne.
