SAMEDAN

Canton : Graubünden

Wappen von Samedan/Arms (crest) of Samedan

Official blazon

  • (de) In Schwarz ein goldener Flussgott mit goldenem Ruder und Wassergefäss.

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the only known seal of the village. The arms show an undefined water-god, which probably indicates the merger of the Inn and the Flaz rivers near the village

In the Kaffee Hag album nr 18 the arms initially appeared rather differently, divided diagonally in gold and black. No explanation was provided for these arms. In later issues of the album, these arms were replaced by the proper arms.
