BREDA
Region : Catalonia
Province : Girona
Catalan | Escut caironat truncat: 1r. de gules, un monestir obert d'or; 2n. d'or, una cabra de sable i la bordura de peces de sable. Per timbre una corona mural de vila. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 7, 1994.
The arms show the monastery of Sant Salvador, a magnificent treasure of Romanesque art, with its Lombard towers (from the 11th century). Below there are the arms of the viscounts of Cabrera, the landlords of the town; these arms are canting: they are derived from "cabra", Catalan for "goat".
