The arms were granted in 1974.
The swan is the symbol of the many swan in Øresund (the Sound). More specific the swans are in i Nivå bugt (Nivå bay).
The bricks symbolise that the first tileworks (brickyard) where founded in Karlebo municipality (today one of the brickyard are still public access, Ringovnen in Nivå)
