BALLERUP

Region : Hovedstaden
Amt (until 2007) : København

Arms (crest) of Ballerup

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1937 to Ballerup-Måløv (renamed in 1974 to Ballerup).

The two shells are the symbol for St. James, the patron saint of the hurches is both Ballerup and Måløv. The waves symbolise the Ibs Kilde (St. James source) and the water supplies underground.

Literature: Achen, 1982; Zeuthen, 2000
