Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of France - Armorial de France |
ARTOIS
Origin/meaning
The arms are identical to the arms of Robert (1216-1250), count of Artois and third son of king Louis VIII of France and Blanche of Castille. The label with the castles (for Castille) are used to differentiate the arms from those of the elder brother, King Louis IX (blue with golden fleur-de-lis.
