Arms of Patrick Joseph James Keane

Bishop of Sacramento

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.

The three salmon are taken from the arms of a Keane family and are thus used here to represent the name of the bishop. The three shamrocks are a symbol for St. Patrick, his patron saint.

The achievement is completed with the heraldic insignia of a prelate of the rank of bishop.
