Origin/meaning

As many of his predecessors he used a combination of the arms of the diocese (cross) with his personal arms as Count of Egmond (chevrons), quartered with the Lordship Baer (bend) and Arkel (bars) and an inectcheon of Gelderland. Different versions of this combination can be found on seals and coins. Also sometimes only the personal arms were used.
