These arms have been officially granted on 24th September 1989.

The city of Tremp developed around the collegiate church of Santa Maria, that dates back to 9<sup>th</sup> century. The arms have shown traditionally the image of the local patron saint, Santa Maria de Valldeflors, crowned and holding the child Jesus and a bunch of lilies (Valldeflors means literally in Catalan "valley of flowers"); and two fleurs-de-lis, another symbol of the Virgin Mary.
