LØGSTØR
Region : Nordjylland
Amt (until 2007) : Nordjylland (until 1970 Ålborg)
Additions : 1970 Aggersborg, Kornum-Løgsted, Næsborg-Skarp, Overlade, Ranum-Malle, Salling-Oudrup, Vilsted-Vindblæs
Incorporated into : 2007 Vesthimmerland
Origin/meaning:
The arms were officially registered in 1984.
The main part of the arms symbolise the Viking fortress in Aggersund, a ring fortress with 12 barracks. The waves symbolise the Aggersund, the part of the Limfjord that divides the municipality into two parts.
Before 1984 the municipality used the arms of the town of Løgstør, designed in 1900.
These arms show the local church, built in 1892-3. The stars are decoration and have no meaning.
The arms as shown in the Kaffe Hag album from the 1930s. |
The arms as shown on a cigarette card from 1926 |
