Green and white are the school colors. The pointer bird dog is the school mascot and is symbolic of the Van Buren area, which lies in the foothills (Arkansas River Valley) of the Ozark Mountains. Locals used the pointer bird dog in hunting for game to sustain life in the early days. The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 11 September 2001.
