The arms were officially granted on January 31, 1997.
Vilalba (that in Catalan means "white town") was given its chart by the Templars of Miravet in 1224. Since 1359 the town belonged to the Hospitaller knights of Ascó, and at the end of the 15th century it became the centre of an own Hospitaller command. The arms show a towered wall with an open door that symbolizes the town, surmounted by a star Argent (a reference to the name of the town). The base shows the cross of the Templars and Hospitallers.
