The sword, symbolizes God's "message of truth that pierces our hearts The rose is a symbol of the Virgin Mary, but also symbolises the Holy Rosary Cathedral in his hometown of Vancouver. Additionally, the rose is flanked by two tulips dedicated to honouring his beloved parents'Dutch heritage.
