From the late medieval time until the 17th century the village was ruled by the Counts von Lupfen-Stühlingen, who used a didided shield of blue and silver, with as a crest a silver swan, flanked by two blue shafts topped with a peacock feather. The swan from the crest was placed in the arms to distinguish the arms of similar divided arms.
