Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1997.
The arms show a coach wheel and spurs, typical for the historical profession of coachmen.
The phoenix represents the reforming of the Fellowship which was around in Cromwells time, but was abolished because the Hackney Coachmen lent their horses to the monarchy to pull their guns. It was re-established in 1990.
The meaning of the Cum Scientia Servimus is “With Knowledge we serve” which refers to the knowledge of London needed for a London Taxi Driver.
