The upper part shows the arms of the Lordship Bedburg, which is derived from the arms of [[Heinsberg]]. The lower part is the arms of the Lords of Salm-Reifferscheidt. The Reifferscheidt family was appointed vassals over Bedburg in 1291 by the Bishops of Köln. The oldest seals first only show a dragon, the supporter of the Reifferscheidt arms. Later seals show the dragon holding the shield.
