===Origin/meaning===
The village of Eschau was a possession of the Counts of Rieneck until 1559. The counts also granted the town rights in 1285. From 1559-1806 the town was a possession of the Counts of Erbach. The town did not have the right to use its own seal, even though it was a fortified town, with an important seat of justice.

The arms were devised and granted on May 22, 1962. The silver and red colours are derived from the arms of the Counts of Rieneck. The stars are derived from the arms of the Counts of Erbach. The division lines symbolises the fortifications and the balance the local court and the town rights.
