The arms are based on the arms of the Lords of  Pont-en-Ogoz, with the addition of the crosses. The region historically belonged to the Lords and their arms were also part of the arms of several of the former municipalities. The crosses refer to the chapter of the Knights of St. John in Freiburg, which also had several possessions in the area.
