GØRLEV
Region : Sjælland
Amt (until 2007) : Vestsjælland (until 1970 Holbæk)
Additions: 1970 Gørlev-Bakkendrup, Kirke Helsinge-Drøsselbjerg, Svallerup
Incorporated into: 2007 Kalundborg
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially registered in 1978.
The three plough irons are a symbol for the local agriculture, especially the cultivation of sugar beets. The chequered chevron (sparre) is a canting symbol for the medieval Sparre family, which had many possessions in the area.
