Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 30, 1947.
Umeå become City Rights in 1622, and in 1646 a Royal Letter prescribed that Umeå should have in its Seal three Reindeer Heads. They alludes to the Reindeer in the Provincial Arms of Västerbotten
