Origin/meaning
The arms were already used on the local seal dating from 1311 and were officially granted in 1974.
According to tradition, Sigtuna was once the seat for the king. Although this can't be verified, the crown in the arms can just as well be for the coins made in Sigtuna in medieval times. Coin making was a responsibility of the state (crown) in those days, and coins made in Sigtuna also had crowns on them. The stars are probably just put into the shield to fill out the field.
