Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a gray disc an orange tiger head garnished white, detailed blue and langued red, environed by a gray designation band fimbriated blue and inscribed in blue letters “LOS LUNAS” above and “HIGH SCHOOL” below all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border. The overall size is 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess enhanced Azure and Tenné issuant from base a staircase supporting six columns, in chief a heraldic tiger passant guardant Argent. Attached below a Silver scroll inscribed “AD ASTRA PER ASPERA” in Blue letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Blue, orange and white are the school colors. The tiger is the school mascot and symbolizes strength, endurance and intelligence.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Blue, orange and white are the school colors. The tiger is the school mascot. The six columns represent trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship, the school’s six “values of character.” The staircase indicates the cadets’ desire to achieve those values. The Latin phrase “AD ASTRA PER ASPERA” translated to “To the Stars Through Difficulties.”

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved 8 May 1997.
