English | Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a maroon shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border a white lozenge bearing a yellow Native American Warrior head with black hair and war paint hair feather black and white. Attached above the shield a yellow tab edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border and inscribed “NOKOMIS” in black letters.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a maroon arrowhead point to base supporting a silver Native American Warrior head in war bonnet quartered – in first quarter a silver scroll, in second a silver balance scale, in third a silver winged foot, in fourth a silver mask of tragedy surmounting a silver lyre – all within a silver scroll inscribed “NOKOMIS WARRIORS” in base in maroon letters. |
Origin/meaning
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Maroon and white are the school colors. The Native American Warrior is the school mascot.
Shoulder Loop Insignia: Maroon and white (silver) are the school colors. The Native American Warrior is the school mascot. The scroll denotes the cadets’ academic environment. The scale represents equality and citizenship. The lyre and mask of tragedy suggest education in the arts, and the winged foot symbolizes the athletic participation of the cadets. The symbols of the cadets’ school involvement are placed on an arrowhead denoting the cadets’ value of protection to family, community, and country.
