Origin/meaning

The arms were first registered on December 28, 1962, the new arms 1974 and are a combination of the 1962 arms of Årjäng and Töcksmark.

The bear in the arms is taken from the seal of the former Nordmark herred. The bordure with the horseshoes refers to the importance of horseriding in the area.
