DIOCESE OF SASKATOON (ANGLICAN)

Country : Canada
Denomination : Anglican

Established : 1933
See City : Saskatoon, SK

Arms (crest) of Diocese of Saskatoon (Anglican)

Official blazon

Arms: Azure three barrulets wavy Argent between in chief a branch of willow fructed between two garbs and in base a Paschal lamb Or, on a chief Argent semé-de-lis Azure a cross Gules thereon a pallium Argent fringed Or charged with four crosses patté fitché Sable
Motto: SURSUM CORDA

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 15, 2017

The red cross, known as the cross of St. George, appears in the arms of the Anglican Church of Canada (previously known as the Church of England in Canada), and the pallium is possibly taken from the arms of the Diocese of Canterbury in England, the original diocese of the Anglican Communion. The garbs of wheat possibly symbolize Saskatchewan, and the willow branch, the Saskatoon bush.

The motto means “Lift up your hearts”. This Latin phrase is found in the liturgy of the Holy Eucharist.
