The arms are based on the only known seal of the village, dating probably from the early 19th or late 18th century. It shows three flowers, see below. | |||
It was assumed that the flowers are dill plants, hence a canting element (Dill-städt), although the name probably has nothing to do with the plant. In the current arms the plants are shown as dill plants. | |||
