The arms were officially granted on November 15, 1971. | |||
The Hagen estate was established in 1296 by Count Ludwig von Arnsberg. The oldest seal dates from the 15th century (known since 1439) and already shows a tree, which probably stands for the former forest. On a second seal, known since 1596 a crosier for the patron saint of the local church, St. Nicholas appeared next to the tree. This composition was taken as arms in 1971 in arbitrary colours. | |||
