CONCO

Region: Veneto
Province: Vicenza

Stemma di Conco
Official blazon
Italian D'azzurro al monte di tre cime al naturale, all'alabarda d'argento posta in palo uscente dalla punta.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 9, 1937.

The coat of arms represents the Venetian plain on which Conco is situated and the mountains of its territory.

The halberd reminds of an episode of war of the League of Cambrai in the early 1550s. The people of Conco stopped the soldiers of the emperor Maximilian I, who wanted to decend onto the plain, in a place called "Bocchetta"

The red chief symbolises the "capo littorio"(i. e. lictorian head) which appeared on all the coat of arms granted during the fascist regime. In the middle there should be the lictorian fasces but the local authorities, without any state authorization, put on their place the new symbol of the State: the Italian star.
