The arms were officially adopted on February 20, 1940.  
The arms were officially adopted on February 20, 1940.  


The arms show a chamois on mountains. The 5 mountains with the blue hole, symbolise the Elmer Berge and the Martinsloch. This is a hole in the mountains above Elm at around 2600 m. In spring an autumn the sun shines through the hole directly into the village of Elm. The church in Elm is built in such a way that the sun shines exactly at the church.The chamois is a symbol for the local nature.
