VORAU

State : Steiermark
District : Hartberg-Fürstenfeld (until 2015 Hartberg)

Vorau.jpg

Origin/meaning

Possibly, the arms of the borough were granted at one time, but there is no grant on record.

Like Admont, Seckau, Stainz and St. Lambrecht, Vorau is a market borough near a great monastery, that of the Canons Regular at Vorau in Eastern Styria. The three fleur-de-lis are the symbol of St.Mary patron saint of the monastery. The monastery itself uses other arms.
