MÖNICHWALD
State : Steiermark
District : Hartberg-Fürstenfeld (until 2015 Hartberg)
Incorporated into : 2015 Waldbach-Mönichwald
Official blazon
Im silbernen Schild auf grünem Boden ein nach rechts schreitender schwarzer Mönch zwischen zwei grünen Fichten.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 13, 1963.
The arms are canting: A Mönch (monk) wandering through a Wald (forest). The Bavarian monastery of Vornbach owned the lands that now make up the municipality. The same coat of arms was used by the monastery from 1663 onwards. The municipality decided not to change the arms.
