FREDERIKSHAVN
Region : Nordjylland
Amt (until 2007) : Nordjylland (until 1970 Hjørring)
Additions : 1970 Elling, Flade-Gærum, Hirsholmene, Åsted-Skærum; 2007 Skagen (1970 Råbjerg), Sæby (1970 Albæk, Hørby, Skæve, Torslev, Understed-Karup, Volstrup)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted by Royal decree in 1898.
The old Fladstrand village was renamed in 1818 as Frederikshavn, and the arms symbolise the royal crown and the anchor for the harbour, thus making the arms canting.
The arms as shown in the Kaffe Hag album from the 1930s. |
The arms as shown on a cigarette card from 1926 |
