Arms of Bø (Nordland)

Official blazon

I svart en halv sølv båt med mast og råseil.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 7, 1987.

The arms show a silver "half boat" on a black background. This was chosen to represent the importance of fishing in Bø, but also part of some old legends in the region that include a "half boat", such as the seaghost draugr who travelled in a half boat.
