KESTILÄ
Region : Pohjois-Pohjanmaa
Former province : until 2009 Oulu
Incorporated into : 2009 Siikalatva
Official blazon
Punaisessa kentässä ristikkäin kaksi hopeista puulusikkaa.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 21, 1967.
The two wooden spoons are partly canting elements. The name looks similar to Kestikievari, meaning innkeeper, or keftit, meaning party. Both thus refer to some kind of hospitality. This was combined with the tradition of wooden handicrafts in the village.
